we stand for lgbtq+ rights
Aware of the harmful impacts of oppression based on sexual orientation and gender identity, we stand in solidarity with queer, trans, gender non-conforming, and two-spirit people
Joyful Mind Project leads with a social justice framework, so that our work goes beyond the amelioration of symptoms, actively seeking to transform the social structures that cause suffering.
With a framework rooted in critical theory — and a team of queer, Black, and neurodivergent collaborators — we believe our work can help ensure that mindfulness and mental health services are not utilized for acclimating people in non-dominant groups to oppressive aspects of society — or contributing to systems that cause suffering.
Joyful Mind Project’s work aims to uproot cis-hetero-normativity, a harmful bias that perpetuates heterosexuality as the default and insists that people fall into binary genders.
By taking up this engaged and informed work with humility and dedication, we believe we can disrupt and dismantle oppressive structures and foster a more just and compassionate world.
We invite you stand with us.
