Consulting & Collaboration

Consulting & Collaboration services can be a good fit for individuals, groups, businesses, and schools seeking support outside of a clinical frame. This might include exploring personal or professional concerns, navigating the difficulties associated with growth and change, or integrating mindfulness-based practices into your home or workplace.

We are happy to have supported many teachers, parents, and over a dozen schools in the San Francisco Bay Area over the last decade. You can learn more about our history, working in collaboration with community here.

our approach

mindfulness for liberation

Support is curated to meet your needs, from weekly individual meetings to district-wide services — available in-person in the San Francisco Bay Area or online throughout the world.

All our services are informed by Buddhist Psychology, utilizing a frame that integrates mindfulness-based and liberatory practices.

Mindfulness is way of orienting to experience. It includes the cultivation of qualities like curiosity, clarity, and compassion — and an understanding of our interdependence with other people, systems, and the natural world.

Read more about the potential health benefits of mindfulness-based practices below, including improved immune system function, increased attentional control, and reduced burnout.

Liberatory practices keep us acting for the benefit of the whole, challenging oppressive systems, and expelling the narratives of insufficiency that we’ve internalized through living within exploitive and oppressive systems.

Together, these practices can support well-being at both collective and individual levels, bringing more joy and justice, ease and equity into the world.

AN EQUITY MODEL BASED IN GENEROSITY AND COMMUNITY CARE

Consulting & Collaboration is offered through an equity model informed by gift economy. You are welcome to pay the amount that works for your budget and that represents how you value this service.

For individual support, the sliding scale ranges from $75 to $275.00 per session. When you pay at the higher end of this scale, you help make this service available to people historically denied access to supportive services.

Research in mindfulness has identified a wide range of benefits in different areas of psychological health, such as helping to decrease anxiety, depression, rumination, and emotional reactivity. Research has also shown mindfulness helps to increase well-being, positive affect, and concentration.

Practicing mindfulness can also be helpful to foster physical health by improving immune system function, quality of sleep, as well as decreasing blood pressure. Structural and functional brain changes have also been documented in areas associated with attention, emotional regulation, empathy, and bodily awareness.

In addition to health, research has been made on the benefits of mindfulness in business and educational settings. In companies, results showed improved communication and work performance. In educational settings, mindfulness practices improved social-emotional skills, executive functions, and decreased test stress in students, as well as reduced stress and burnout in teachers.

I have been teaching for seventeen years but this is my first in a Title 1 school. I love teaching here but it was a really rough adjustment at first. Students and their families deal with so many obstacles. From the beginning, Joyful Mind Project’s founder, Chelsea True, was always there for me. She listened to me vent and gently helped me learn centering and breathing techniques to help me get back on track.

I witness and hear of other teachers and students who echo this sentiment around the work that Chelsea has been doing with mindfulness. Her work is only beginning!
