Joyful Mind Project founder Chelsea True holds two certifications in secular mindfulness. She is a Mindful Schools Certified Instructor and she has received MBSR-Tcertification with Gina Biegel’s organization Stressed Teens.
While what she shares with youth is secular, her personal practice is supported by the Soto Zen lineage of Shunryu Suzuki and the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. Chelsea is a student of Zen; not a Zen teacher.
She is the Youth & Family Programs Coordinator for San Francisco Zen Center and leads the Children’s Program at Stone Creek Zen Center. She also practices with the Soto Zen Lotus Sangha in Sebastopol and received lay-ordination from Hoka Chris Fortin with the dharma name, Mei Kyo Ko Gen, “Luminous Mirror, Ancient Source.”
Chelsea has been serving the Youth & Family Program at San Francisco Zen Center since 2012 and more recently began helping develop family programming at Stone Creek Zen Center. She has attended many retreats in the Plum Village tradition and is delighted to be helping facilitate a sitting and study group grounded in the work of Thich Nhat Hanh.
Chelsea is happy to direct adults interested in Zen practice to these centers where teachers with many years of experience can offer guidance and practice support.
